Wednesday, 18th May 2011 was National W.O.W. (Walk on Wednesday) Day.

Last November we conducted a Travel Survey within the school and were very disappointed with the following results:

After our W.O.W. day the survey showed a significant change in results:

This was a drop of 65% travelling by car.

A big,  thank you to all those who supported our W.O.W.  day and made it such a huge success.

Deirdre Walsh from Radio Kerry interviewed Mr. O’ Brien (Principal), Mr. Lyons and pupils from the Green Schools Committee.

She spoke to pupils who had walked to school and asked them a few questions about who they had walked to school with and where they had walked from, etc.

The pupils informed her of our Beach Clean-Up of Cockle Shell Beach, where we filled a total of 30 black refuse sacks with rubbish.  Ms. Walsh also asked  about our School Banner advertising our W.O.W. event which she had observed on her way into the school.
