Another very enjoyable day was had at the Primary Hoops Basketball tournament, which was organised by CBS Primary.  We had a fabulous day at John Mitchels Sports complex.  Well done to Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn who retained the winner's plaque this year.

Our boys put in a very spirited and sportsmanlike performance to finish a close second.

The day was made more special for the pupils when Tralee Warriors players Trae Pemberton, Goran Pantovic and Kieran Donaghy visited to watch a few games.  They were magnificent with the kids.

Congratulations also to Darragh O' Connor who won MVP for the second year in a row.

Well done Darragh!

Mr. Ó Conchúir’s 6th class in Holy Family School Tralee are currently engaging with the Junior Entrepreneur Programme  (JEP).  This programme is developed over a 16 week period.  The pupils are encouraged to learn from their experiences and to take control of the project.  They learn to become critical thinkers and they are encouraged to identify their own varied strengths and talents.  They become members of a team, engage with each other and reflect on their learning.

Mr. Jim Garvey,  Garvey’s Supervalu visited the class and spoke with the pupils to encourage and motivate them.  The pupils really engaged with Jim and questioned his motivation, ideas and entrepreneurial skills.

We had 5 working groups.  Each group selected a leader.  Each group then discussed various entrepreneurial ideas that could be successful for this project.

Our groups then chose some very innovative ideas such as plastic water bottles, braclets, string bags, T-shirts, photo albums and key rings.  Through a process of dialogue and explanation the groups presented their ideas to Business Dragons:  Mr. Ed  O’ Brien, Mr. Francis Quill and Mr. Jim Garvey.

“We are now in the process of developing our ‘Big Idea’ and how we are enjoying it”, said Mr. Ó Conchúir.
