Mr. Ed O' Brien, Principal, was delighted to present Vilhelmas with the winning trophy for the ‘Most Awesome Project’ in the ITTch Project Award 2015.

What is ITTch?

The ability to code computer programs is an important part of literacy in today's society.  "Coders" learn important strategies for solving problems, designing projects and communicating ideas.

ITTch is a primary school ICT initiative, created by the Computing Dept. in IT Tralee, based on the Scratch application.  Pupils can program their own interactive stories, games and animations in line with the school curriculum.  This method of introducing young people to computer programming enables pupils to think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively - essential skills for life in the 21st century.  This year 6th class pupils from Holy Family School availed of specialised training from computing and media students over a 4 week period and had the opportunity to enter a competition to win the ITTch Award 2015.

We are grateful to Mary Lucey, Head of Creative Media and computing Dept. ITT, to Siobhan Creedon and Paul Collins co-ordinators of the ITTch Programme for providing the 6th class pupils of Holy Family School with this wonderful opportunity.
